Which models can be fixed?

We can fix all faults on the following ghd models; ghd3, 3.1b, 4.0b, 4.1b, 4.2b, 4.2p, 5.0, SS, SS2, SS4.0, SS5.0, MS, MS4.0, MS5.0. Including limited editions and colours of these stylers.

Can the ghd Platinum+ S8T262, Gold S7N261 & Gold Max S7N421, New Original S4C242 be repaired?

YES. We are proud to now offer a ghd Platinum+ S8T262, Gold S7N261, Gold Max S7N421 and new Original S4C242 Repair service. 

However, for these repair services (Platinum+, Gold, Gold Max and Original) the irons MUST NOT BE DEAD. They must show some sign of life when plugged in, a bleep or flash of the LED etc. If you are in any doubt please contact us before purchasing this repair service. If we receive a set that is completely dead we will not be able to carry out the repairs. We will contact you and offer 2 alternatives. 1. We can dispose of them for you and offer you a full refund. Or 2. We can return them to you with a return postage and admin fee of £10.99 deducted from the original fee and refund the balance to you.

Which models can NOT be fixed?

Unfortunately we cannot repair the following ghd products; ghd Platinum S8T261, Eclipse 6.0, Hot Brushes, Curlers or Hairdryers. We cannot repair fake ghd models as these are very dangerous and the genuine parts are not compatible.

How much will the repair cost?

  • Our Standard fee is £29.99. This service is for older model ghds with a sliding on/off switch. This one off fee covers all electrical faults on  models; ghd3, 3.1b, 4.0b, 4.1b, 4.2b, 4.2p, 5.0, SS, SS2, SS4.0, SS5.0, MS, MS4.0, MS5.0. Including limited editions and colours of these stylers.
  • Our Original & Gold fee is £39.99. This service is for newer models; Original S4C242, Gold S7N261 & Gold Max S7N421. 
  • Our Platinum+ fee is £44.99. This service is for Platinum+ S8T262

      What is not included?

      If the plastic body/casing has been snapped or cracked there is an additional fee for the service. We will contact you once we have assessed the damage, a replacement arm is £10.

      Occasionally we are asked if we can replace the plates if they are scratched or chipped as this can cause them to snag on the hair. We are able to if we have replacements available for your model. The additional fee for this service would be £10. 

      How do I send them to you?

      When sending your hair straighteners please do not include any accessories or the original box. We recommend closing the plates together and securing them with an elastic band. This will ensure that the plug does not come in contact with the plates which can scratch them. We suggest wrapping them in bubble wrap or an old towel and placing them in a padded envelope or cardboard box.

      We recommend sending them to us with Royal Mail via the Post Office using a tracked or signed for service. Please retain proof of postage. Our address is; Robertselectrical 29 Farringdon Lane, Preston, PR2 6LY

      You do not need to book an appointment or a timeslot

      How long will it take?

      We know how important your styler is, we aim to have them back to you as quickly as possible!

      We aim to carry out all Original Repairs within 24 hours of receiving them. Platinum Repairs take a little longer, usually 48 hours. We then send them back with Royal Mail Tracked 24®, with delivery within 1-2 working days.

      We will send you a text or an email to confirm they are on their way back and you can track their progress.

      Can the fault be fixed?

      If your model is listed as a repairable model then yes we can fix all faults on these models!

      However, for these repair services (Platinum+, Gold, Gold Max and Original) the irons MUST NOT BE DEAD.       Common faults include;

      • The light won't come on or no power
      • Plates not getting hot or one plate not getting hot
      • Making a crackling noise
      • power cutting off
      • Constant bleeping
      • Bleep to say they are ready then cut off
      • Overheating

      Common repairs we carry out;

      • Replacement Cable due to damage. ghd won't turn on or has intermittent power.
      • Replacement Internal Thermal Fuse, due to overheating or degeneration. ghd has no power.
      • Failed or blown Resistor on the PCB. ghd has no power.
      • Plates become loose after being dropped or stood on, a new backing plate holder to be fitted.
      • IC malfunctions on the PCB, Replacement IC to be fitted. Overheat problems or constant beeping.
      • Cracked or Damaged Heaters need replacing after overheat or being dropped.
      • Replacement Arms or Plastic Bodies after being stood on or dropped.

      What if you can’t fix them?

      If we cannot repair your styler we will contact you, will issue a refund and return them to you.

      Do you offer a warranty on repairs?

      Yes- we offer a 90 day warranty on repairs. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

      Can I drop my styler in to be repaired?

      Yes- if you live locally then it may be more convenient for you to drop the styler in to our workshop to be repaired. Please contact us to arrange a drop off time.

      I have a straightener which is fitted with an adaptor plug, the adaptor is broke. Do I need to send them for a repair?

      Most stylers are fitted with a two pin EU cable and an adaptor plug. If a prong is broken on the plug you can purchase a replacement at www.ghdspares.co.uk

      Can I fix my own styler?

      Yes- you can purchase parts at www.ghdspares.co.uk
